GET TO KNOW ME

Emma Russell is a multimedia journalist and video producer who excels at translating complex information into clear, compelling narratives. She has produced everything from short-form reels to long-form video essays and news packages as the Assistant Video Editor at The Daily Northwestern.

She also knows how to reach her audience. At the American Red Cross, Emma designed engagement strategies that improved youth volunteer campaigns across nine states and ran a nationwide survey of 100 communications leaders to improve the organization's volunteer outreach. She later volunteered in Disaster Public Affairs, coordinating media relations across 27 New York counties during active disaster response and distributing 65 press releases to local outlets over a one-year period.

Emma leads recruitment communications at the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, creating biweekly newsletters, infographics, and social campaigns that grow the program's visibility and participation across 58 Rotary clubs. She previously brought those skills to Northwestern Athletics managing communications for four Division I teams. In this role, she produced live social coverage, edited graphics and published game analysis that reached thousands of fans.

She is passionate about global education policy and how international systems shape access to education. This stems from three years as a teaching assistant and leadership counselor.

Emma is a double major in Journalism and Political Science at Northwestern University and a frequent traveler who collects postcards from every new location she visits.
